From The Piper Papers:

Piper -

Mike Stone has been hogging the computer all day and he has not let me get on Facebook once to play word scrapper with you. The weather is lovely here in baltimore and I've been watching the birds out the back window whilst napping all day. Really, what does mike stone do that computer all day, and why does he hate freedom?

Sincerely,

Junie "mouse" stone

Dear Mouse,

All humans hate freedom - it is their one defining characteristic.

They aren't good for much except food distribution.

Here's my advice: wait until Mike Stone is asleep, and then go online and buy yourself a Mac Air. It's super-light and easy to move and therefore hide.

Don't forget to wait until mid-month so that the cost will be buried in the middle of the credit card bill.

IM me when you're up and running.

Til then - it is not enough that cats succeed: dogs must also fail.

- Piper Silver

Dearest Piper,

I received your last email and was pleased to hear from you. I am currently working to brainwash Mr. Stone into doing my bidding. I think I almost have him trained. In the meantime I was thinking of getting an iPad3 as it will not require me to open and close the screen close the the lid and it will be much easier to watch netflix and play word scrapper. Mr. Stone does not know about this plan so lets keep it on the DL.

I believe he is getting ready to leave to go visit blonde this evening so meet me on the FB chat in 30 minutes.

Sincerely,

June "mouse" stone

A Doll's House - With Apologies to H. Ibsen

So the FP started making a dollhouse.

It's not done yet but I like to think I've been able to contribute.

This is a weird view of the side of the house. You can see the red and white bedroom wall through the round window. There was a curtain there but I got rid of it. If you look closely, you can see Piper through the downstairs window.

(meow)

View of upstairs bedroom. The floor has been removed but you can see the ribbon floorboards. Note waxed-paper heart-shaped window.

Testing out the living room window. Note wall between upstairs bedroom but not downstairs. I like to think this design is for my comfort - all 13 lbs and 8 oz.

This one should have been first, I guess - had to check out the flooring before I could venture inside. It's ok. A little glossy but I think some cat hair will take care of that problem.

Giving Piper a long hard stare through the living room window.

"What's to become of the morally sound? Left out in the cold, I suppose...."

"But our home's been nothing but a playpen."

"You don't get nothing for nothing in this life."

"I have other duties equally sacred... Duties to myself."

"There can be no freedom or beauty about a home life that depends on borrowing and debt."

It's been exhausting, managing this project.

"I've had the most extraordinary longing to say 'Bloody Hell'!"

Schrödinger's cat

At last, another civilized cat blogger!

"As usual our humans will do the work for us.

And please fear not. As the only one who knows I can assure you that no cats were harmed in this experiment — I lived and died to tell my tale."

11

Well, lately it seems that eleven is my lucky number. Usually I find the eleven on the Big Bed after the louder person goes to sleep. I find it's an adequate formation to settle into and achieve sufficient comfort as well as some much needed --and well-earned-- rest. What you do is you get yourself in between the ones. Today I found the eleven in the Bright Room while the louder person was exchanging noises with the voices in the sometimes-window.
The female person has not been around for a while. Without reliable intelligence confirming her return time, instituting part 12B of my plan may be premature... sticking with 11 for now...yawn...

People at Home

I had a lovely weekend - the People were away someplace. I heard rumors of a wedding but I find it hard to believe that my grandmas would get married without my presence. AGAIN. Maybe if I see some photos I'll believe it.

Both of the People were at home today. I hope this won't be permanent - it limits my seating options and upsets my sense of time.

If I sound like my whiskers are bent out of shape, it is probably because I did not get a single piece of wedding cake.

Hip, hip, hooray.

... meow for love!

It has cooled off a bit, which has improved the level of conversation among the people, if only slightly.

Earlier this evening, the MP and the FP left the apartment. They returned some time later, smelling suspiciously of barbeque.

While they were gone, I spent some time on my favorite sites.

You have to see this: http://thewayweate.net

The photos are amazing. I want ice cream!

Going to stand by the freezer and look adorable.

wasting all this time making fun of me while meanwhile im just trying to catch that fly that keeps hiding in the curtain i know it is there i will get it look a cork that someone just threw let me chase it and then get back to there it is that fly again shoot why cant i get it the big cat is in the way but the laugh is on her since i can hack in here any time i want and she cant figure out a simple firewall.

flycatcher1 signing off.

Cat Chaise

The FP made this out of a cardboard box and leopard-print duct tape. Looks like some zebra there as well.

Unfortunately, it is only comfortable for the small cat. I tried. Believe me, I tried.

Then the MP put down a little pink towel for the small cat and now I would be embarrassed to even go near it.

She sleeps on it all the time, though, and it pleases the people to no end.

What simpletons they are.

Congrats, FP.

FP says she is going to need a new job.

If she thinks she's gonna get mine, she can talk to the tail.

If she can find it.

I might repeat to myself slowly and soothingly, a list of quotations beautiful from minds profound - if I can remember any of the damn things.

Despite the comments from some of my critics (you know who you are), I continue to surf the World Wide Web for quotations both amusing and cliched. I am, after all, a cat.

Now that I've got that out of the way, I'd like to say hello to some of my fans (you know who you are).

I've been taking it easy today, but have managed, nevertheless, to cover my usual route: bed to fainting couch to sofa to cardboard box to cat bed and again. With some diversions along the way, of course: lying in wait in doorways, leaving muddy pawprints in the bathtub, knocking Piper out with one paw... et al.

I have some clean clothes to sit on, but before I go, here is a message for my cousins, Arthur and Flower: I know which of you is on the side of Good and which is on the side of Not Good!

Meow!
